With this move it is important that you check downwind if you have enough space, because you will land a bit downwind. That is why it is not smart to practice this move with onshore wind, the best is to do it with sideshore wind.
Grab your board at the toeside rail with you front/right hand. It will make it easier when you have a handle on the board, this makes it easier to put your feet into the footstraps.
Start running with an angle of 45 degrees into the wind with your kite at one a clock. While running keep the board in front of you with your front/right hand, as you can see on the first picture. Also send the kite with your back/left hand to 11 o’clock.
Before you take off make sure you do your last steps really against the wind to get some extra pressure in the kite. As soon as the kite pass 12 o’clock you take off/jump against the wind. At the same moment you grab with your back/left hand the right side of your bar, to send the kite back to 2 o’clock.
Once you are in the air with your left/back hand on the right side of the bar it is time to get your board on your feet. Make yourself as small as possible and try to get your feet in front of you. Bring the board to your feet by stretching your arm and make your body as small as possible.
Now slide your feet into the straps, it is normal that the board is a bit lose on your feet right now. Remember that you keep steering the kite in the right direction. Now you have your board on your feet, take with your right/front hand the bar again, at the same time you grab with your left/back the left side of the bar. Steer now with both hands on the bar the kite extra hard down to generate extra speed at the landing.
Once you landed get your feet good in the straps and ride away full speed to take off for your next trick.

Ydwer.com 19.11.09 at 10:21Aaaah so that’s how you do it! Nice sequence dude!
David 20.11.09 at 19:26I have a question, can you do it having the board in your back hand and sending the kite backwards with your front hand? or you think its more difficult?

Yes it is possible as well to have your board in your back hand. I do it like this, because I’m used to take my board off with my right hand during board offs. Good luck!
JMS 15.12.09 at 07:07Hey Bas,
Can you show us how to do a pop 360 from flat water. I heard they can be done in light wind and look cool! I can surface pass but yeah…having trouble!
thanks,
JMS
